AceMoney Receipts
Pair with AceMoney on your desktop
Pairing connects your AceMoney Receipts account to the AceMoney program on your computer. Receipts you capture on the phone arrive on the desktop as pending receipts you can record as transactions, and the desktop sends back its account, payee and category names plus chart summaries. The desktop program that pairs today is AceMoney Classic (the earlier AceMoney program).
Before you begin
- A registered copy of AceMoney Classic on your Windows PC. AceMoney Lite cannot pair: its Cloud Settings… dialog says “This feature is available with licensed version of AceMoney”.
- AceMoney Receipts signed in on the phone or in the web version. Any sign-in works, including Continue as Guest: the PC is granted access to whichever account the app is signed in to.
- Both the phone and the PC online.
- Both within reach: each pairing code lasts 30 seconds.
Why pair
- Every receipt you scan reaches AceMoney Classic with its picture, amount, date, payee, category, account and comment, ready to record as a transaction.
- The names you use on the desktop (accounts, payees, categories) appear as suggestions when you edit a receipt on the phone, so both sides spell them the same way.
- The Charts tab gains an AceMoney tab with balances and spending charts from the desktop (see Set budgets and read the charts).
- Pairing is free: it needs neither Receipts Pro nor the Mileage plan.
Pair AceMoney Receipts with AceMoney Classic
The phone-side steps are the same on iOS (iPhone and iPad), Android and the web version on a desktop browser.
On your phone or in the web version
-
Tap More, then Settings.
-
Open the Sync tab. The tile reads Pair with AceMoney on Desktop with Status: Not Paired underneath.
-
Tap the tile. The Pair with AceMoney dialog says Enter this code in AceMoney Classic: and shows an 8-digit code in two groups of four above a countdown bar and Expires in 30 seconds. Keep the dialog open: when the countdown ends a fresh code replaces it (a short sound plays), so you never need to tap again.
On the PC
-
In AceMoney Classic, open AceCloud > Cloud Settings….
-
Type the eight digits into the Sync code field and click Grant access while the phone’s countdown is still running. If the phone has already shown a new code, type that one instead.
-
Within a few seconds the phone shows AceMoney Classic granted access! and the dialog changes to AceMoney Paired, listing Host Computer:, AceMoney Version: and Access Granted On:. Tap Close.
-
Back on the PC, turn on Mobile Sync in the same dialog and save your file (File > Save). Saving is what sends the desktop’s names and charts to the phone.
What syncs, and in which direction
| Direction | What travels | What you see |
|---|---|---|
| Phone to AceMoney Classic | Receipts that have not synced yet, with their pictures, up to 150 per fetch, oldest first | Pending receipts in AceMoney Classic. Once the desktop has recorded or deleted a receipt and saved the file, that receipt shows a small grey computer icon on the phone |
| AceMoney Classic to phone (with Mobile Sync on, each time you save the file) | Account names and balances, payee names, category names, and chart summaries (balances, spending by category, subcategory and account, monthly totals) | Suggestions in the Payee, Category and Account fields; the AceMoney tab on the Charts tab |
What never syncs through this pairing: your desktop transactions are not copied to the phone; the budget gauges on the phone stay on the phone; mileage trips and splits stay on the phone. Pairing is not a backup of either side. (Filing Cabinet documents sync separately, with an AceMoney Cloud subscription — see AceMoney Cloud — never through this pairing.)
Get your receipts into AceMoney Classic
- In AceMoney Classic, open AceCloud > Get AceReceipts…. The window lists the receipts waiting on the phone, with thumbnails.
- Select a receipt and click Record to create a transaction with the picture attached, or Delete to discard it.
- Save the file. Only then does the phone mark those receipts as synced.
The desktop fetches up to 150 receipts at a time, oldest first; open Get AceReceipts… again for the rest.
Pair a different computer
One computer is paired with a Receipts account at a time. To move to a new PC:
- On the phone, open More > Settings > Sync and tap the paired tile.
- The app asks Overwrite Pairing? (“This device is already paired with AceMoney. Do you want to overwrite the existing pairing?”). Tap Overwrite.
- In the dialog that opens, tap Unpair Device, then Unpair. A fresh code appears in the same dialog.
- Enter that code on the new PC under AceCloud > Cloud Settings… and click Grant access.
Use several phones
The pairing belongs to your Receipts account, not to one phone. Every phone (and the web version) signed in with the same account is paired with the same computer, and receipts from all of them reach it. You do not pair each phone separately.
Unpair
- On the phone: More > Settings > Sync, tap the tile, tap Overwrite, then Unpair Device. Confirm with Unpair (“Are you sure you want to unpair from AceMoney Classic? You will need to pair again to sync receipts.”).
- On the PC: AceCloud > Cloud Settings…, select the device and click Revoke access.
Receipts already recorded in AceMoney Classic stay there with their pictures. New receipts stop arriving, the AceMoney charts tab stops updating, and the receipts on your phone are untouched.
Common questions
Can I pair AceMoney Receipts with AceMoney Studio?
Not with this code; see the note at the top of this page. With AceMoney Cloud, connect the phone to a document in AceMoney Studio under Settings > Sync > AceMoney Studio (Connect to AceMoney Studio).
Do I need Receipts Pro to pair?
No. Pairing, the desktop suggestions and the desktop charts are included in the free plan.
Does pairing copy my desktop transactions to the phone?
No. The phone receives names, balances and chart summaries only. Your ledger stays in AceMoney Classic.
Does the PC have to be running all the time?
No. Receipts you scan while the PC is off wait in your account until you next open Get AceReceipts…. The desktop’s names and charts reach the phone whenever you save the file.
Can I pair from the web version?
Yes. The Sync tab and the same code dialog exist in the web version on a desktop browser, and the pairing is shared with the phone app because it belongs to your account.
What does the small computer icon on a receipt mean?
The desktop has recorded or deleted that receipt and saved its file. You also see the grey computer icon at the top of the receipt when you open it.
I edited a receipt after it synced. Does the desktop get the change?
No. A synced receipt is not sent again. Make the same change to the transaction in AceMoney Classic.
Does unpairing or deleting my Receipts account delete the transactions on the PC?
No. Transactions you recorded stay in your AceMoney Classic file. Deleting your Receipts account removes the pairing and the receipt pictures stored in your account, so keep copies of any pictures you still need before deleting the account.
Troubleshooting
- “Sync code not found” on the PC. The digits were mistyped, or the phone has already replaced the code (codes last 30 seconds). Read the code the phone shows now and try again.
- The code changes before I finish typing. Normal. Open Cloud Settings… and click into the Sync code field first, then tap the tile on the phone and type the code straight away.
- “This feature is available with licensed version of AceMoney”. You are running AceMoney Lite, which cannot pair.
- The dialog shows no code. You are signed out or offline. Sign in (a guest sign-in is enough), check the connection and open the dialog again.
- Paired, but no receipts appear in AceMoney Classic. Receipts arrive only when you open AceCloud > Get AceReceipts…. Check the PC is online and that the phone is signed in to the same account it paired with.
- Receipts never get the computer icon. Save the file in AceMoney Classic after recording; the acknowledgement travels with the save.
- “No AceMoney data synced yet.” on the Charts tab. Turn on Mobile Sync in Cloud Settings… and save the file.
- The Sync tab shows my old computer’s name. Pair again from the new PC (see “Pair a different computer”).
- The same receipt was recorded twice. The latest AceMoney Classic update refuses to record a receipt twice; on an older version record once and save before fetching again.
- The phone said “AceMoney Classic granted access!” but the tile still says Not Paired. Leave Settings and open it again; check the phone is online.
