AceMoney Receipts

Set budgets and read the charts

Last updated

AceMoney Receipts shows how this month’s spending compares with three budgets you set, and charts your receipts by category, month and day. When the app is paired with AceMoney Classic, a second set of charts comes from the desktop.

The budget gauges on the Home tab

At the top of the Home tab sits a card with three round gauges. Each gauge is one category (optionally with a subcategory) and a monthly budget; the needle shows how much of that budget this calendar month’s receipts in the category have used. A gauge you have not set up yet is labelled Uncategorized with a budget of zero.

The gauges are a setting of this device. They are not shared with your other phones, not sent to the desktop and not part of your account: a new phone, a reinstall or another browser starts with three empty gauges.

Set a budget gauge

  1. On the Home tab, tap anywhere on the gauge card. The Detailed Budget Overview page opens with a line such as Showing receipts since September 2026 (the first day of the current month) and one large gauge per budget.
  2. Under a gauge, type the Category. Suggestions appear as you type, the same list you see on a receipt.
  3. If the budget is for a subcategory, type the Subcategory too.
  4. Type the monthly Budget amount.
  5. Tap Update. The gauge redraws with this month’s total for that category.
  6. Repeat for the other two gauges, then go back.

To clear a gauge, empty its Category and Budget fields and tap Update; it shows Uncategorized again.

Read the Charts tab

Tap Charts in the bottom bar. Without a paired desktop the tab is a single view with four choices at the top:

  • Category: a pie chart of spending by category.
  • Monthly: a bar per month.
  • Trend: the Daily Spending Trend line.
  • Budget: Budget vs Actual (12 months), which shows for each gauge category the budget against what you actually spent, month by month over the last 12 months. It needs at least one gauge; otherwise it says “No budget gauges configured. Set them up on the Home page.”

The Category, Monthly and Trend charts use every receipt in your account, whatever its date. Amounts are in US dollars, like the receipts themselves. With no receipts the tab says “No data to chart.”; a single chart with nothing to show says “No category data”, “No monthly data” or “No trend data”.

Charts from AceMoney Classic after pairing

Once you have paired the app with AceMoney Classic (see Pair with AceMoney on your desktop), the Charts tab shows two tabs at the bottom: Receipts (the charts above) and AceMoney (a computer icon). The AceMoney tab has a row of chips:

Chip Chart title What it shows
Balances Account Balances The balance of each account in your desktop file
By Category Spending by Category Desktop spending totals per category
By SubCategory Spending by SubCategory The same, per subcategory
By Account Spending by Account Desktop spending per account
Monthly Monthly Spending Desktop spending per month
Monthly Detail Monthly Spending (Detail) Monthly spending broken down by category

These charts are built from your desktop ledger, not from your phone receipts. AceMoney Classic uploads the summary each time you save your file with Mobile Sync switched on in AceCloud > Cloud Settings…; until the first save the tab says No AceMoney data synced yet., and a chip with nothing to show says “No data for” followed by the chart title.

What you see without a desktop

Everything on this page except the AceMoney tab. The gauges, the Detailed Budget Overview and the Receipts charts need no pairing and no paid plan.

Web

The web version on a desktop browser has the same gauges, overview page and charts. The gauges are stored in that browser, so another browser or computer starts with empty gauges. There are no ads in the web version.

iOS (iPhone and iPad)

On the free plan an ad banner sits under the gauge card, at the top of the Charts tab and at the bottom of the Detailed Budget Overview. Any paid plan removes it.

Android

Same as iOS.

Common questions

Do my budgets come from AceMoney Classic or AceMoney Studio?

No. Budgets in AceMoney Receipts are the three gauges you set on this device. Budgets from the desktop do not sync to the phone, and the gauges are not sent to the desktop.

Can I have more than three gauges?

No. The Home tab always shows exactly three.

Which month do the gauges show?

The current calendar month. They start again from zero on the first day of each month; the Budget chart keeps the last 12 months.

Why did my gauges disappear on my new phone?

Gauges are kept on the device, not in your account. Set them up again from the gauge card; your receipts themselves are in your account and unaffected.

Does the Budget chart use the same budgets as the gauges?

Yes. It has no budgets of its own: it takes each gauge’s category and monthly budget and compares them with what you spent in each of the last 12 months.

Can I chart in another currency?

No. Receipts and charts are in US dollars.

Do the AceMoney charts include my phone receipts?

Only once you have recorded them in AceMoney Classic and saved the file. Until then they appear in the Receipts charts only.

How far back do the AceMoney charts go?

As far as the summary the desktop last uploaded. The latest AceMoney Classic update sends the last 12 months of monthly totals.

Troubleshooting

  • A gauge stays at zero after I saved a receipt. Open the receipt and compare its Category and Subcategory with the gauge’s; they must match exactly. Check the receipt’s Date is in the current month.
  • A gauge says Uncategorized. It is not set up yet. Tap the card and give it a category and a budget.
  • “Budget cannot be negative”. Type a positive amount, or zero to keep the category with no budget.
  • “No data to chart.” There are no receipts in this account yet. If you expected some, check which account you are signed in to under More > Settings > Account.
  • The Budget chart says “No budget gauges configured.” Set at least one gauge on the Home tab.
  • There is no AceMoney tab on the Charts tab. The app is not paired with AceMoney Classic. See the pairing page.
  • “No AceMoney data synced yet.” On the PC, turn on Mobile Sync in Cloud Settings… and save the file.
  • The AceMoney charts are out of date. They refresh when the PC saves the file. Save it, then leave and reopen the Charts tab.
  • My gauges reset after reinstalling the app. Expected: they are stored on the device only.
