AceMoney Receipts

Search, sort and organize your receipts

Last updated

The Home tab lists every receipt in your account. Here is how to find one quickly, change the order, and keep the list tidy.

Read the list

Each receipt card shows the payee in bold (or “Unknown”), the receipt date, “Created:” with the date and time it was saved, and the amount on the right. A small Location tag means a map pin is recorded; a small computer icon means the receipt has been sent to a paired AceMoney Classic. Tap a card to open it. When you scroll down, a round up-arrow button appears to jump back to the top.

Search for a receipt

  1. On Home, tap the round search button at the right edge of the screen.
  2. Type in the Search… field. The list narrows as you type.
  3. Tap the cross to clear the search and close the bar.

Search matches the Payee, the Amount ($) and the Comment of each receipt, ignoring upper and lower case. “fern” finds “Blue Fern Cafe”; “63.18” finds a receipt with that amount; “team” finds a receipt whose comment mentions the team lunch. If nothing matches, the list says “No matching receipts found”.

Sort newest or oldest

Inside the search bar, tap the arrow to flip the order: a down arrow means Newest First (the default), an up arrow Oldest First; press and hold the arrow to see the name. Receipts are sorted by their receipt date.

To sort by the moment you saved them instead, turn on More > Settings > About > Sort by Created Date (“Newest created first”). That is handy when you enter old receipts and want the ones you just added at the top.

Find receipts by date, category or account

There are no filter menus on the Home tab. Use these instead:

  • By date: sort Newest First or Oldest First and scroll to the month; the cards show the receipt date.
  • By category: open the Charts tab; Category shows spending per category, and the gauges on Home track three categories against a budget. See Budgets and charts.
  • By merchant: search the payee.
  • By amount: search the amount as it is stored, without a currency sign. A receipt of twelve dollars fifty is stored as 12.5, so type “12.5”, not “12.50”.
  • By account or keyword: put the account name or a keyword in Comment when you save, and search for it later.

Organize with categories

Every receipt has a Category and an optional Subcategory. The suggestions come from the built-in list (Groceries, Dining Out, Automobile with Gasoline and Maintenance, Bills, Household and more), from the categories of a paired AceMoney Classic, and from any name you typed before.

  • Add a category: type it in Category on any receipt and save. It is offered next time.
  • Rename a category: there is no category manager. Open each receipt that uses the old name and change it.
  • Keep the list short: pick from the suggestions rather than typing variants (“Grocery”, “groceries”), so charts and budgets add up per category.
  • Uncategorized is where receipts saved without a category land. Give every receipt a category when you review it.

Organize with accounts

Account records the payment method. Once you have saved a receipt paid with a card and filled in the account, the app fills it in automatically on later receipts paid with the same card. Names from a paired AceMoney Classic are offered as suggestions.

Use comments as tags

Search looks inside Comment, so a word there works like a tag: “#reimburse”, “trip Boston”, “warranty”. Type the same word each time and search for it.

Delete a receipt from the list

Swipe a card to the left, tap Delete, and confirm in the Delete Receipt dialog. The bar “Receipt deleted” appears with Undo for about four seconds; afterwards the receipt is gone for good.

Common questions

Can I search by date?

Not directly. Sort by date and scroll; the receipt date is on every card.

Can I filter by category?

Not on the list. The Charts tab shows totals per category, and the Home gauges follow three categories of your choice.

Why is a receipt not where I expect it?

The list is sorted by receipt date unless Sort by Created Date is on. A receipt with a wrong date sorts by that date; open it and fix Date.

Do transactions from AceMoney Classic show up here?

No. The list shows receipts made in AceMoney Receipts. Pairing sends receipts to AceMoney Classic and brings back names for suggestions and charts, not the desktop transactions.

Can I export my receipts to Excel, CSV or PDF?

Not from the phone app or the web version: there is no CSV, PDF or e-mail export of receipts in this release. Two ways to get them onto a computer: pair with AceMoney Classic, record the receipts there with AceCloud > Get AceReceipts…, and export from AceMoney Classic (File > Export… as CSV, TXT or HTML); or open the web version on your computer and copy the details of each receipt, opening the picture with View Receipt Snapshot.

Can I delete several receipts at once?

No. There is no multi-select or date-range delete: swipe each receipt to the left, tap Delete and confirm (Undo is offered for a few seconds). The only way to remove every receipt at once is Delete Account under Settings > Account, which also deletes the account itself.

How do I archive old receipts?

There is no archive. Old receipts stay in the list; sort Newest First to keep the recent ones on top.

Troubleshooting

  • Search finds nothing. Check the spelling; search matches parts of words. For amounts, type the number without a currency sign and without trailing zeros.
  • A receipt is missing. Clear the search, check the sort direction, and make sure you are signed in to the same account you used to save it (guest accounts are separate).
  • The order looks wrong. Turn Sort by Created Date off (or on) under Settings > About.
  • I deleted the wrong receipt. Tap Undo on the bar right away. After it disappears, the receipt cannot be restored.
  • Two categories that mean the same thing. Edit the receipts to use one name.
