AceMoney Classic
Pair AceMoney Classic with AceMoney Receipts
This page helps you connect AceMoney Receipts to AceMoney Classic (the earlier AceMoney program) so that receipts you capture on the phone can be recorded as transactions on the PC, and the phone can show your account balances and spending charts.
Before you begin
- A registered copy of AceMoney Classic. AceMoney Lite cannot pair: AceCloud > Cloud Settings… shows “This feature is available with licensed version of AceMoney”.
- Internet on both the PC and the phone.
- AceMoney Receipts signed in: any sign-in works, including Continue as Guest. The PC is granted access to whichever account the phone is signed in to, so use the same account on every device you want to see the results on. See Sign in and your account in the AceMoney Receipts guide.
Pair the phone with the PC
You need both devices in front of you: the code the phone shows lasts 30 seconds.
- On the phone, open the More tab, then Settings, then the Sync tab.
- Tap Pair with AceMoney on Desktop (it reads Status: Not Paired). The Pair with AceMoney dialog says Enter this code in AceMoney Classic: and shows an 8-digit code in two groups of four above a countdown bar and Expires in 30 seconds. Leave the dialog open; a fresh code appears by itself every 30 seconds, with a short sound.
- On the PC, open AceCloud > Cloud Settings….
- Type the 8 digits into the Sync code field and click Grant access while the phone’s countdown is still running.
- Within a few seconds the phone shows AceMoney Classic granted access! and the dialog changes to AceMoney Paired, listing Host Computer:, AceMoney Version: and Access Granted On:. Tap Close. The PC lists the phone among the paired devices.
Back on the Sync tab the tile now reads Status: Paired with AceMoney Version: and Host Computer Name: underneath, and Tap to unpair.
iOS (iPhone and iPad)
More > Settings > Sync, as above.
Android
More > Settings > Sync, as above.
Web
The web version of Receipts (for desktop browsers) pairs the same way from its Settings > Sync tab. See Receipts on the web in the AceMoney Receipts guide.
Windows
Everything on the PC side happens in AceCloud > Cloud Settings… (the Sync code field, the device list, Grant access, Revoke access, Update pairing, and the Mobile Sync and Online Backup switches) and in AceCloud > Get AceReceipts….
Turn on Mobile Sync so the phone sees your accounts
In Cloud Settings… tick Mobile Sync, click OK, and save the file (Ctrl+S). Each time the file is saved, AceMoney Classic uploads your account names and balances, payee names, category names and spending summaries. The phone uses them to autocomplete payees, categories and accounts on new receipts, and shows the charts under Charts, on the AceMoney tab (Balances, By Category, By SubCategory, By Account, Monthly, Monthly Detail). Until the first save after pairing, that tab says No AceMoney data synced yet.
The Online Backup switch is separate from pairing; see support if you need to restore from it.
Record receipts on the PC
- In AceMoney Classic, open AceCloud > Get AceReceipts…. Receipts captured on the phone since the last time appear with thumbnails, oldest first (up to 150 per fetch).
- Select a receipt and click Record to create a transaction with the receipt’s payee, amount, date, category, account and comment; the picture stays attached to the transaction (the clip icon in the register, and the picture buttons in the transaction dialog). Click Delete to discard a receipt.
- Save the file. Recorded and deleted receipts are reported back to the phone only when the file is saved; the phone then marks each with the grey computer icon.
Until you save, the same receipt can be fetched again, so record it once, save, and only then fetch again.
What syncs, and what does not
| From the phone to the PC | From the PC to the phone |
|---|---|
| Receipts you captured: picture, amount, date, payee, category, account, comment | Account names and balances, payee and category names (for autocomplete) |
| Spending summaries for the AceMoney charts tab |
Not synced: your transactions (the phone never receives them), budgets set on the phone (they stay on the phone), documents and mileage trips. Pairing is not a backup of your AceMoney Classic file and not a full ledger sync.
Pair a different computer, or pair again
One Receipts account is paired with one PC at a time. Tapping Pair with AceMoney on Desktop while paired asks Overwrite Pairing? (“This device is already paired with AceMoney. Do you want to overwrite the existing pairing?”): tap Overwrite, then Unpair Device and Unpair in the dialog that opens. A fresh code appears; type it into Cloud Settings… on the new PC and click Grant access. The new pairing replaces the old one; receipts already recorded on the old PC stay in that file.
Unpair
- On the phone: More > Settings > Sync > Pair with AceMoney on Desktop > Unpair Device, confirm with Unpair (“You will need to pair again to sync receipts”).
- On the PC: AceCloud > Cloud Settings…, select the device and click Revoke access.
After unpairing, transactions already recorded keep their pictures, new receipts stop arriving, and the AceMoney charts tab stops updating. Deleting your Receipts account (in the app, or at the AceMoney Receipts data deletion page) removes the pairing and the online copies of the pictures.
Common questions
Does the phone get my transactions or budgets?
No. The phone gets balances, names and spending summaries for its charts and autocomplete; transactions never leave the PC, and the budgets you set on the phone stay on the phone. See Budgets and charts in the AceMoney Receipts guide.
Can I pair AceMoney Receipts with AceMoney Studio instead?
Not at the moment. Receipts pairs with AceMoney Classic only.
Does the trial version pair?
Pairing needs a registered copy. If a trial copy lets you open Cloud Settings…, it works the same way for the length of the trial.
Can two phones pair with one PC?
One Receipts account pairs with one PC, and the pairing belongs to the account, not the phone.
Do the pictures need the internet to open on the PC?
Yes, in version 4.38 and earlier: the picture is fetched from the online copy in your Receipts account when you open it. Keep the PC online when you view receipts.
Where are the pictures stored?
In your Receipts account online, attached to your transactions in the AceMoney Classic file by reference. See Receipts privacy and security in the AceMoney Receipts guide.
Do I have to pair again after moving AceMoney Classic to a new computer?
Yes. The phone shows the old Host Computer Name until you tap the paired tile on the phone, choose Overwrite, unpair, and grant the fresh code from the new PC (see “Pair a different computer, or pair again” above). See Move AceMoney Classic to a new computer.
Troubleshooting
- “Sync code not found”. The digits match no code the phone is currently showing: a typo, or the code was replaced while you typed (they last 30 seconds). Read the code the phone shows now, type all 8 digits, and click Grant access at once. There is no separate “expired” message.
- “This feature is available with licensed version of AceMoney”. You are running AceMoney Lite. Pairing needs a registered copy; register the full program, or use the phone app on its own.
- The pairing succeeded but no receipts arrive. Click AceCloud > Get AceReceipts…; receipts are fetched when you ask. Check that the phone is signed in to the account it paired with, that the PC is online, and that you saved the file after the last Record.
- The phone still shows a receipt as not synced. The PC reports back only when the file is saved. Press Ctrl+S in AceMoney Classic, then open the receipt on the phone again; it now shows the grey computer icon.
- The same receipt was recorded twice. It was fetched again before the file was saved. Delete the duplicate transaction; next time record once, save, then fetch. Make sure you have the latest version with Help > Check for updates….
- The phone says “No AceMoney data synced yet.” Mobile Sync is off, or the file has not been saved since pairing. Tick Mobile Sync in Cloud Settings… and save the file.
- The phone shows an old computer’s name. You moved to a new PC. Tap the paired tile on the phone, choose Overwrite, unpair, and grant the fresh code from the new PC.
- A receipt picture will not open on the PC. The PC is offline (version 4.38 and earlier fetch it online), or the transaction no longer has its picture buttons. Connect and try again.
- The code on the phone changes before I finish typing. Type the code on the PC first, then click Grant access immediately; if it changed, type the new one. Both devices must be on the internet.
