Choose a plan and understand your license
This page explains what each AceMoney product includes for free, what you can buy, where to buy it, and the rules for the AceMoney Studio license and for subscriptions. Prices differ by store, country and currency, so they are not repeated here. See the pricing page.
The short version
- AceMoney Studio on macOS, Windows and Linux is free to use with 3 accounts you can edit. One AceMoney Studio license, bought once on our website, unlocks it.
- AceMoney Cloud is a yearly or monthly subscription, sold on our website. It adds end-to-end encrypted sync and bank feeds, and it includes the Receipts Pro and Mileage plan features.
- AceMoney Receipts is free with ads. Receipts Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription in the app.
- AceMoney Classic is no longer sold. Every license ever issued keeps working, and its owners can buy AceMoney Studio at a founder price.
AceMoney Studio on a computer
AceMoney Studio runs on macOS, Windows and Linux (64-bit Intel and AMD PCs). The download is free. Without a license it runs as the Free version. With a license it is unlocked.

What happens to accounts past the third
The Free version keeps 3 accounts you can edit, across all your documents. Other accounts stay readable but cannot be changed.
- Opening or importing an AceMoney Classic file brings in every account and every transaction. The accounts past the third arrive read-only.
- A bank-file import that would create a fourth account, and bank feeds that would add one, stop at the limit and show the Unlock AceMoney Studio dialog.
- On the Accounts page, Keep editable… chooses which accounts stay editable. You can change your choice once every 30 days.
Unlocking makes every account editable at once. Nothing has to be imported again.
Buy and activate an AceMoney Studio license
- Buy AceMoney Studio on our website (see the pricing page). You can also click Buy AceMoney Studio in the Unlock AceMoney Studio dialog.
- Open the order e-mail. Your license key starts with AMS-. If the e-mail is missing, check your spam folder.
- In AceMoney Studio, open Settings ▸ Account and find Desktop license.
- Paste the key into License key.
- Type the Purchase email address from your order.
- Click Activate.
Activation needs the internet once. After that, AceMoney Studio works offline and never stops working.
The license rules
- What you get. A perpetual license for AceMoney Studio on a computer. No account is needed, and nothing renews.
- Computers. One license covers 2 computers at a time. Each activated computer is a seat. The seats can be any mix of macOS, Windows and Linux.
- Moving to a new computer. On the old computer, open Settings ▸ Account and click Deactivate this seat. Then activate on the new one. If the old computer is gone, activate on the new one, click View all seats on this license and click Release next to the old seat. Seat changes need the internet and may ask you to sign in. Reinstalling on the same computer needs no release.
- Activation limit. Each license has a lifetime number of activations, and re-activations count. If you reach it, AceMoney Studio says “This license has reached its activation limit — contact support to continue.” Contact support and we raise it.
- Updates. A license includes 12 months of updates from the purchase date. After that, the version you have keeps working forever. An optional yearly renewal lets you keep getting updates. It is offered before your first year of updates ends; the pricing page has the price.
- Refunds and withdrawn keys. If a license is refunded or withdrawn, AceMoney Studio returns to the Free version after 30 days. Nothing is deleted.
- Privacy. Activation sends your key, your purchase e-mail and a one-way device value. The app checks in when it is online. See Know what stays on your device and what we store.

AceMoney Studio on iPhone, iPad and Android
AceMoney Studio Mobile is coming to iPhone, iPad and Android, starting with version 1.2. It is not in the App Store or Google Play yet. It will be a free download with the same 3-account Free version, and a one-time unlock inside the app. The pricing page has the details.
AceMoney Cloud
AceMoney Cloud is a subscription, billed yearly or monthly, sold on our website. It includes:
- End-to-end encrypted sync of your AceMoney Studio documents between your computers. See Sync between your devices.
- Bank feeds for US banks, connected from AceMoney Studio on a computer. See Bank feeds.
- The Receipts Pro features in AceMoney Receipts, and the Mileage plan features, when you sign in with the same AceMoney account.
AceMoney Cloud does not include the AceMoney Studio license, and the license does not include AceMoney Cloud. You can buy them separately, or together as a bundle on the pricing page. AceMoney Studio and AceMoney Receipts both work fully without AceMoney Cloud.

Receipts Pro is a subscription, monthly or yearly. Any paid plan removes every ad. AceMoney Cloud includes the Receipts Pro features. Details: Receipts Pro and the Mileage plan, in the AceMoney Receipts guide.
Buy Receipts Pro on your phone
- Open More › Settings › Account.
- Tap Upgrade to Pro.
- Choose a package and confirm with the App Store or Google Play.
The app checks your purchase with the store. You do not need to sign in to buy; a guest can buy too.
Buy Receipts Pro in the web version
Sign in to the web version, open Settings › Account and click Upgrade to Pro. A checkout page opens in your browser (“Redirecting to checkout…”). A guest sees Account Required first: create an account so the subscription has an owner.
The Mileage plan
The Mileage plan is a yearly subscription for unlimited automatic trip detection. AceMoney Cloud includes it. In AceMoney Studio, the Tax pack (CSV) export on the Mileage Reports tab needs the Mileage plan or AceMoney Cloud; sign in to AceMoney Studio with the account that has it. Manual trips are always free. Automatic trip detection in AceMoney Receipts is coming in AceMoney Receipts 2.0.
AceMoney Classic
AceMoney Classic is no longer sold. Every license ever issued keeps working. AceMoney Lite, an old free edition limited to 2 accounts, keeps working for people who already have it, but it is no longer offered for download. New users can start with the Free version of AceMoney Studio. See Is AceMoney Classic still supported?.
The founder price on AceMoney Studio
If you own an AceMoney Classic license, you can buy AceMoney Studio at a founder price.
- Go to the upgrade page at www.mechcad.net/upgrade/.
- Paste your AceMoney Classic license (the name and the serial number) and enter the e-mail address you bought it with.
- Open the e-mail we send and follow its link to buy at your price. The link works for 7 days.
If you bought AceMoney Classic on or after April 1, 2026, your price is lower still. The upgrade page shows the price that applies to you. AceMoney Lite has no license, so it does not qualify.
Subscriptions: renew, cancel and restore
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancelling keeps the plan until the end of the period you paid for. It does not refund that period.
iOS (iPhone and iPad)
Tap Manage Subscription in Settings › Account in AceMoney Receipts. Or open your iPhone’s Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. After a reinstall, or on a new iPhone, tap Restore Purchases in Settings › Account while signed in to the same Apple ID.
Android
Tap Manage Subscription in AceMoney Receipts. Or open the Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions and Subscriptions. After a reinstall, or on a new phone, tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the same Google account.
Web
A subscription bought on our website is not managed by a store, so Manage Subscription does not appear in the app. For AceMoney Cloud, manage or cancel it on the website’s Existing customers page with Manage my subscription; the steps are in Manage or cancel your AceMoney Cloud subscription. For Receipts Pro bought in the web version, use the link in your checkout receipt e-mail, or open a Licensing and billing questions request on the support portal.

Common questions
Is there a free trial?
The free versions are the trial. AceMoney Studio is free with 3 accounts you can edit, for as long as you like. AceMoney Receipts has a free plan with ads. There is no separate time-limited trial.
Do I need an account to buy or activate AceMoney Studio?
No. The license is activated with the key and the purchase e-mail. Studio’s Sign in is only for AceMoney Cloud, and for Claim a Cloud license… in Settings ▸ Account.
Do I need Receipts Pro if I have AceMoney Cloud?
No. AceMoney Cloud includes the Receipts Pro features. Sign in to AceMoney Receipts with the same AceMoney account you subscribed with.
Can I use one license on a Mac and a Windows PC?
Yes. One license has 2 seats, and they can be any mix of macOS, Windows and Linux computers. The same key and purchase e-mail activate every version.
What happens when my 12 months of updates end?
Nothing changes on the computers you already activated: AceMoney Studio keeps working. You only lose the ability to activate a version released after your updates end. Such a version says “This license doesn’t cover updates as recent as this build — renew to activate the latest version.” Install the version that matches your updates, or renew.
Why is my activated license card titled “Subscription”?
The card that shows your activated license is titled Subscription and reads “Perpetual license”. The license is still a one-time purchase. Nothing renews and nothing is charged again.
Can I buy AceMoney Studio for my phone?
Not yet. AceMoney Studio Mobile is coming to iPhone, iPad and Android, starting with version 1.2. A license for a computer does not unlock the phone app.
I typed my AceMoney Classic serial number into AceMoney Studio. Why was it refused?
AceMoney Studio needs a key that starts with AMS-. Studio says “This looks like an AceMoney Classic serial number.” Use your serial number on the upgrade page instead, to buy AceMoney Studio at the founder price.
Troubleshooting
- Receipts still says free after I paid. Tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the store account you bought with, then restart the app.
- “Subscription products are currently unavailable. Please try again later.” The store could not be reached. Check your connection and your App Store or Google Play sign-in, then try again.
- “No license matches — check the key for typos.” Paste the key from the order e-mail rather than typing it. It starts with AMS-.
- “That purchase email doesn’t match this license key.” Enter the e-mail address you used for the order. It may differ from the one you use elsewhere.
- “All seats on this license are in use — deactivate one you no longer use, or contact support to move a seat to this computer.” Release a seat as described under “The license rules”.
- “This license has been revoked or refunded.” The license was refunded or withdrawn. If you think this is wrong, open a Licensing and billing questions request.
- “Couldn’t reach the licensing server — check your connection and try again.” Activation and seat changes need the internet. Try again when you are online.
- “Sign in (Settings → Account) to manage this online, then try again.” Releasing a seat from the seat list asks you to sign in first. Sign in and try again.
- The upgrade page does not accept my AceMoney Classic license. Copy the name and the serial number from your license e-mail rather than typing them. If it still fails, open a Licensing and billing questions request.
