What’s new in 1.0.1
New
- Any currency for any account: pick from the world’s currencies, and each account shows its amounts in its own currency, with its own symbol and decimals.
- Exchange rates you control: add or edit a rate by hand in Settings, Currency & Quotes, and add your own custom currency. Rates you type are kept when rates are downloaded.
- Exchange rates update automatically when you open a file and once a day while it is open. You can turn this off in Settings, Currency & Quotes.
- The Accounts page is grouped, as in AceMoney Classic: by group, account type, bank or currency, with subtotals and a total. Drag accounts between groups.
- Home now has an Accounts card, and every card opens what it shows: a total opens its report, a recent transaction opens it in the register, an upcoming bill opens its schedule.
- Arrange Home: show, hide and reorder its cards with Customize Home.
- Payee details: address, phones, email, website and notes for each payee, and notes for each category. Importing from AceMoney Classic brings payee addresses across.
- Scheduled transfers: a scheduled transaction can now move money between two of your accounts.
- Duplicate a transaction, or add it to your schedule, from the register.
- Turn off payees you no longer use. They stay in your history and come back the moment you use them again.
- Tag colours show in the register, and the Tags column is shown.
- A Columns button in the register: choose which columns to show, fit them to the window, or reset them to the defaults.
- Investment accounts now count the market value of their holdings wherever you see a balance, a total or your net worth, with the account’s cash shown underneath. You can turn this off in Settings, Currency & Quotes.
- On the free version with the sample file loaded, you can try Reports, Investments, Budget goals and the cash-flow forecast on the sample accounts.
Improved
- The register remembers which columns you show, for each file.
- The register and the Reports table show a scrollbar whenever there is more to see to the side.
- Every total on Home, in Reports and in budgets converts each account to your base currency.
- The account dialog lists the banks you added first.
- AceMoney Cloud: the Cloud Devices pages walk you through each step, say what to do next on each computer, and name every device the same way.
- Approving a new computer for AceMoney Cloud now tells you exactly what to do next on it.
Fixed
- A file imported from AceMoney Classic, or with the sample data loaded, could show “no exchange rate for USD” for US-dollar accounts. Fixed, and files that already have it are repaired when you open them.
- Editing an imported transfer no longer clears its category, and a transfer can now have a category.
- “Add to schedule” works on transfers, and typed payees and categories are no longer lost when you switch a scheduled entry’s type.
- On the Accounts page, sections that hold several currencies with no base currency set say “Mixed currencies” instead of a wrong total.
- AceMoney Cloud on a Mac: resetting a computer’s cloud setup, or setting it up again, could get stuck and stop syncing with no way out. Fixed: the reset now finishes, and a reset that was interrupted finishes the next time AceMoney Studio opens.
- Signing out on a Mac could fail when no sign-in was saved on that computer. Fixed.
- AceMoney Cloud: when a computer can’t verify your account’s document list, it now says so and points you to Cloud ▸ Documents, instead of asking you to try again. If the device it needs to verify no longer exists, the screen explains what to do.
- Several smaller fixes to exchange rates and to moving around the register with the keyboard.
- Pressing Update exchange rates while an automatic update was running could save a rate twice. Fixed.
- The Accounts page’s counts include only the accounts it shows.
- The sample file’s Brokerage account no longer shows a large negative balance.
Before you update
- The first time 1.0.1 opens a file, it upgrades the file to add payee details and category notes. This takes a moment once, and AceMoney Studio keeps a backup of the file from before the upgrade.
- Payees now have a details card (address, phones, email, website and notes), and categories have notes. If you sync with a computer that hasn’t updated yet and edit a payee there, update that computer too. Until then, payee details and category notes edited on the older computer don’t reach the cloud copy, so a computer you add later may not see them. Your other computers keep them.
